Thank You, Steve Wofford

Fourteen years ago, the Lord smiled on First Baptist when Steve Wofford became our Church Administrator. He has guided us through the Great Recession of 2008, taken on the CLC and other projects, and guided homeless people personally through times of great crisis. Jane and he have been instrumental in establishing a Christian sorority and a fraternity at FSU, and Steve has been very active serving in the community, especially with The Shelter Board. Every person at First Baptist has commented on Steve’s servant heart and ministry mindset.

Steve has accepted a call to be the Church Administrator at First Presbyterian Church of Ft. Lauderdale. Steve will complete his ministry here at First Bptist the week of October 12 and will begin his work in Ft. Lauderdale October 20. I will miss Steve’s insight, wisdom, and work ethic. He is a wealth of knowledge and information about our church and has been a big reason for the success of First Baptist over the years. Most people who have served on committees realize the many hours that Steve works on our campus to keep the “trains running on time.” Steve has demonstrated to all of us what it means to be a servant leader.

John Rice begins his ministry with us on October 5. He will be assuming Steve’s roles in the interim and helping us appoint staff to cover these bases. We are blessed with a great finance committee and many capable folks in our custodial, weekday, and CLC staff. We are so blessed with hard working people who serve First Baptist. They are ready and prepared to continue the good work that is happening at FBC.

Please join me for a reception in honor of Steve Wofford on October 12 in Fellowship Hall at 11:00AM following SMBS and at 12:15PM following the Contemporary Worship Service. We will have a chance to bless Steve and Jane as they follow God’s leadership in South Florida. Please be praying for the Woffords and First Baptist in the days to come.
