Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteering has never been easier, more effective, or as efficient at First Baptist. Thanks to the great work of Hannah Watt and our staff team, we have many simple ways for you to get involved to Think, Act, and Be like Jesus on the block and in the community. These one day, hands on events fit anyone’s schedule and give you a great opportunity to make a huge difference.

Helping Hands is Saturday, October 24. This is your opportunity to freshen up the buildings and grounds. The Property and Maintenance Committee coordinates this effort. Just show up with your work clothes and a willing spirit that morning to dust, paint, or clean out a room.

First Love is Saturday, November 7. Tom Perrin, Jr. and the First Love ministry group coordinate this effort. Volunteer and project forms will be available in the Connect Center on Sunday, and you can sign up to volunteer online by simply going to our website and clicking on the links for First Love. There is something for everyone to do at First Love. This day helps us Love Tallahassee with our hands and feet, and many of these projects are assembled in our facilities.

Then…. looking ahead. Be ready for the Winter Festival and Ring in the Season. We’ll be looking for people to greet and mingle with our downtown neighbors on December 5. This event begins at 2:00 p.m. and continues into the evening.

Our Christmas concert this year is called “Come Home for Christmas.” Presented by our music ministry on Sunday evening, December 13, it’s a great opportunity to invite friends to find a home at the manger with Jesus. Rehearsals have just begun; if you have talents in music, technical work, or drama, Penny can find a spot for you. Call our music office to get involved. Even if you’re not on the platform, you’re a part of the program. You can prepare now to come and worship the newborn King!

When you participate in these events, not only do you build the body of Christ, you meet other people in the body. Every person has a part to play; let’s use our gifts together this fall. And if you have any questions, check with Hannah; and she’ll get you connected. You don’t have to be a
member to volunteer. Let’s involve everyone as we serve Jesus together.
