Think, Act, Be, Day 15-Psalm 66:18-20

If I had cherished sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened; but God has surely listened and has heard my prayer. Praise be to God, who has not rejected my prayer or withheld his love from me!

Psalm 66:18-20

Psalm 66 is a testimony to believers about the marvelous power of God’s work in a person’s life. This psalmist is overwhelmed at God’s willingness to listen to his prayer. God listens to him, and the psalmist invites other believers to share in that praise.

Prayer is not a spell that we cast on God that if we say the right words, God pays attention. Prayer sends us downward to examine our hearts. Like Jonah, we go into the “belly of the fish,” confess our wrongs, accept God’s forgiveness, and reject sin’s power on us. In the process, like Jonah, we realize that God listens even when we are trying to turn away from him. We are delivered, rising again, to experience his powerful love. As you memorize these verses this week, put them in your own words—like a paraphrase. Share these verses as a testimony with others about God’s love and deliverance.
