Season of Thankfulness!

Thank you for a tremendous morning of service at Helping Hands last Saturday. I’m so grateful for our property and maintenance committee, our maintenance staff, as well as John Rice and Hannah Watt for putting together a great day to clean the buildings and grounds.

November is a month to remember why we have so much to be thankful for at First Baptist. As our “Think, Act, Be” series draws to a close, we will serve our community, express our personal gratitude for those who have gone before us, and celebrate the present ministries in our church.

Join us this Sunday evening at 6:00 p.m. as we discuss the proposed 2016 Operating Budget. This budget comes as a recommendation from our Deacons and Finance Committee. The budget reduces our tithes and offering budget by over 4% from the 2015 budget. As good stewards of God’s resources, we’re proposing to live within our means and continue the good work that is already underway. I’m so grateful to Harold Brock, Chad Wilson, John Rice, and our finance committee for their diligent dedicated efforts this year. Our leaders have looked through every line item with great detail. We are blessed to have their wisdom and insight.

First Love is November 7. Over 200 people, including over 50 of our college students, have already signed up for this annual event when we love Tallahassee with our hands and feet.

November 8 is Heritage Sunday. We’ll honor Golden Members who joined First Baptist in 1965. We will remember those in our congregation who have died since last year and recognize veterans.

On November 15, we’ll gather at the Lord’s table for communion and contribute a Thanksgiving offering to the Lord. We will also vote on the proposed 2016 operating budget.

One of my favorite songs simply says, “May those who come behind us find us faithful.” By walking these paths this November, we’ll learn how to be more faithful believers.
