Since 2002, First Baptist has helped fund the Summer Music School to train young leaders and Christian musicians, held at the Christian University of Northern Haiti. From violin lessons to a new well and clean water, from brownies mixed in a washtub to music theory class, from cleaning of mildewed instruments to providing the ONLY air-conditioned room---we have helped in many ways to help the music school continue!! Praise to the Lord for His direction and blessings on our efforts to help in one little corner of the world. Haiti is the only 3rd world country in the Western Hemisphere – with unimaginable poverty and desperation. But there is hope there. Hope is in Jesus Christ. Whereas music is a language of hope and love in Haiti, Haitian Christians are using music to proclaim the Gospel. Our church has been busy helping equip them to be even more effective and has shown our love in very tangible and encouraging ways.
Please join us for the "Hope for Haiti" fundraiser to support the music camp at UNCH. The event will be held at the home of Janet Ray on Saturday, March 3 from 11:00AM till 2:00PM. Tickets are $10, and available through your SMBS class, or in the Connect Center after each worship service on Sunday mornings. We will have live Caribbean music, a Haitian musician and a graduate from the camp at UNCH, a silent auction of Haitian art, and food and fellowship with friends. Any contributions are appreciated! For more information, please contact Janet Ray (893.4207).
