Each year, our Youth Choir presents a musical revue called Dessert Theatre. The show follows a theme and is filled with solos, duets, ensembles, and dance numbers. Auditions for the show are held in the fall and extensive rehearsals begin in early January. The purpose of the show is to allow youth to have fun performing various musical numbers and to raise money to offset the cost of their annual Mission Trip.
Disciple Now Weekend (DNW) is an amazing experience for middle and high school students. DNW is centered around small group discipleship in a home setting. The weekend consists of prayer, Bible study, great music, recreation, food, and relationship-building. It’s a retreat without leaving Tallahassee! We kick off on Thursday evening, stay in host homes on Friday and Saturday, and wrap up Sunday morning during Bible study and worship at 11:15.
Spend some time each Good Friday and remember what Jesus Christ did for you on this day. Our sanctuary is open from 11:00AM until 5:30PM, and all are welcome to drop in and stay as long as you need. We will provide a printed guide containing scripture, reflections, and prayer, and you will also have an opportunity to take the Lord’s Supper.
We’re excited to be able to #IMPACTthecity once again during Springtime Tallahassee! As we open our doors to welcome guest on our campus, we want FBCTLH to be a warm heart and smiling face for visitors to use the restroom, rest their children, and feed or change their babies.
Vacation Bible School (VBS) is a 1-week camp each June, from 9:00AM until 12:00PM. VBS is for children 4 years old through completion of 5th grade. Through Bible stories, music, recreation, crafts, and snacks, children will learn about the one-of-a-kind love Jesus gives.
At the beginning of each fall semester, we choose a Sunday to wear our favorite team’s colors to worship – just for a fun way to connect with each other, and welcome our college students to Tallahassee!
Upward features separate leagues for boys and girls, Kindergarten (5 years) through 7th grade, and features equal teams, equal playing time, post-game awards, and much more! In Upward, not only do children learn about Jesus, but all participants have the opportunity to develop their character and self-esteem through healthy competition. Upward basketball or cheerleading is a 2-hour-per-week commitment: practices and games are each one hour per week.
Our own handbell choir, Bells of Praise, is joined in the FBC sanctuary by numerous other bell choirs from the Tallahassee area as they present a Christmas gift to the community with hundreds of bells ringing joyful Christmas carols. This one-of-a-kind concert event is held on the first Saturday afternoon of December.
Hanging of the Green is held on the first Sunday evening of Advent and is a celebration of the beginning of that joyous season. Together we will decorate our sanctuary with greenery and sing Christmas carols. Many music groups will perform special music. The highlight is the presentation of the manger scene by our children’s choirs.
The annual Christmas Celebration is the largest musical production of the year. It features the Christmas Choir and full orchestra, with drama and dance. This production brings our entire church together in celebration of the birth of the the Lord Jesus Christ.
