Associate Pastor of Family and Discipleship Ministries
FBCTLH believes that children are a vital role in the life of the church. We put a lot of emphasis on helping each child grow in the faith. We believe that God has given children the ability to understand His commands. Thus, we work toward helping them grow in favor and stature with God. Each and every child from our nursery to our fifth-grade class receive spiritual care. Yes, we teach babies the Scripture!
FBCTLH also understands the importance of equipping parents to disciple their children. Discipling a child is commanded by God as a responsibility of the parent. It is the church’s responsibility to help the parent in this effort. This is a beautiful picture of a biblical partnership.
We are currently going through The Gospel Project curriculum. This is a three-year journey from Genesis to Revelation. Each lesson is broken down to age-appropriate learning levels. We make it a priority for every child, birth – 5th grade, to experience the love of God through His Scripture. Each child takes home a family devotion card so that each parent can continue to conversation during the week.
We have a lot of fun on Wednesday nights! We firmly believe that discipleship can and should be fun. We focus on missions and missionaries faithfully serving our Lord around the world. Our prayer is that all our children will be sent out as missionaries whether that is locally or globally.
Each adult volunteer in this wonderful ministry has been called by God to serve in this way. Not only have they been called, but they have been trained, equipped, and background checked to best serve your child. We have a very intensive screening process. Safety is of huge importance to us.
FBCTLH uses a digital check-in process called Shelby for our preschoolers. This system prints off your child a name tag with a matching guardian receipt. Your child’s name tag is customized to fit your child’s needs. It alerts the teachers if there are allergies, special notes, or a birthday. Place the name tag on the back of your child. You are to bring the guardian receipt to pick up your child. This system also allows us to contact you if a need arises.
