INTERIM MINISTER TO COLLEGE STUDENTS

INTERIM MINISTER TO COLLEGE STUDENTS

After months of prayer, searching, and discussion, Aaron Brooks has been selected to serve First Baptist Church as our interim minister to college students. From a pool of nearly 70 applicants, Aaron was the unanimous choice of the interim college minister search committee and was unanimously approved by the personnel committee.

Aaron completed his undergraduate studies at Liberty University, earned a master of divinity from Duke University Divinity School, was ordained by Yates Baptist Church in Durham, North Carolina, and just completed his coursework in pursuit of a doctor of philosophy from Florida State University. As newlyweds, Aaron and his wife, Lorrie, spent their first couple years of marriage as missionaries in Thailand and then Mexico City. Since that time, God has blessed them with a daughter, Raeleigh (4 years old), and a son, Reuben (2 years old).

Since coming to Tallahassee in 2014, Aaron and Lorrie have been actively involved in First Baptist Church and serving our local community. They currently help in our children’s ministry, as well as minister through our local homeless shelter. Aaron is a dynamic teacher of God’s Word and already leads a college men’s Bible study and mentors some of our young men. In his own words, shared with the search committee, Aaron’s desire is that “we might see Christ’s call to discipleship for what it is: a call for total surrender and complete, faithful obedience.”

Please welcome Aaron and his family into this new area of service and continue to pray for our college ministry. Thanks to the faithful leadership of our college interns and volunteers, we have continued to reach college students for Jesus during this interim and have momentum going into the days ahead.
