FIGHT NIGHT

Whenever I counsel couples, we talk about conflict as a necessary part of any healthy relationship. But simply knowing this doesn’t automatically make disagreements any easier to work through. That takes patience, practice, and maybe even some professional help… which can be even more useful when it comes from a pair of exceptionally qualified and entertaining experts.

First Baptist Church will be hosting Drs. Les and Leslie Parrott, live and in person, for Fight Night on Friday, May 12, at 7:00PM. If you’re not familiar with the Parrotts, they’re a psychologist and a marriage and family therapist who’ve been married more than 30 years and are #1 New York Times bestselling authors of numerous books, including Saving Your Marriage Before It Starts, which FBCTLH has used for years with the newlyweds in our church.

Fight Night is a 2.5-hour “date night” for couples of every age and stage — from pre-engaged couples to those who’ve been married for fifty years or more. Whether a couple is currently doing great or experiencing a rough patch, Fight Night is for anyone and everyone looking to build a stronger relationship.

With a style that interweaves humor and practical insights that can be immediately applied to any relationship, Les and Leslie will cover topics like the #1 reason couples fight, how to be smart about “dumb” fights, the four essentials of a good fight, how to instantly resolve 9 out of 10 arguments, the biggest mistake most couples make, and much more. The main point: When you know how to fight a “good fight,” conflict becomes the price we pay for deeper intimacy.

Les and Leslie are both committed Christians, and while this is not a Bible study, the principles they share are grounded in Scripture. In addition to helping couples within our church, this event is also designed to be an outreach where unchurched couples will feel comfortable learning alongside church folks. As such, I hope you’ll invite other couples to join you for the evening and make this investment in their relationship.

Don’t wait any longer! Purchase your tickets online right now! If you need help ordering tickets, we’ll have staff available in the Welcome Center this Sunday, May 7, after each worship service. As a church, we’re committed to creating strong homes, and Fight Night is a powerful opportunity to help us reach that goal and reach our community for Jesus.
