CRESCENDO
The music ministry is very proud to present the 6th annual Crescendo concert, “Anthems of Love,” this coming Sunday evening, September 24, at 6:00PM in the Sanctuary. “Crescendo” is the Italian word for “growing” and that definition is the simplest explanation for why our upcoming concert bears this name. The music ministry of First Baptist Church is called and committed to support, nurture, and love students of music at our local universities, helping them to grow in skill, leadership, and commitment to God and His music. We began a structured initiative to fulfill this call in 2012 and the creation of Crescendo was one of the results.
This coming Sunday night, you will be treated to an evening of love songs to God presented by our Sanctuary Choir, Chamber Players, instrumental ensembles, and soloists. Our music Interns and Scholars take leadership for this event using their talents to perform, lead in worship, and direct the choir and orchestra. As they give us this gift of their talents, we provide them with the chance to “grow,” and in so doing, we help to develop the future leaders of music in the church.
During this concert, a love offering will be collected to support our College Music Student Ministry. These funds help us provide Wednesday night suppers for all students involved in choir, orchestra, or the praise team and assist with other miscellaneous costs that arise in the ministry. One goal we have is to be able to send our students to conferences to help them develop their church music skills. Additionally, our college students have used funds earned from this concert to give back and support other FBCTLH ministries such as the Youth Choir Mission Trip.
