A NOTE FROM SUZETTE MASON

Dear First Baptist Church family,

There are times in our lives when we have a deep sense of the movement of God. Several months ago the Lord began preparing my heart for the possibility of a shift in ministry. Today the Lord confirmed and opened the opportunity for me to become the Minister of Discipleship and Children at First Baptist Church in Norman, Oklahoma.

This position will allow me to stretch, explore, and create Intergenerational Ministry opportunities for the church family. I look forward to having a deeper opportunity for influence in the areas of Discipleship, Family Ministry, Parenting, and Life Groups.

Over the past two years, the Lord has allowed me to create some “newness” in Children’s Ministry at FBCTLH. I am grateful for the opportunity to clean up and give a fresh look to Kids areas on the 3 Duval floors. Our Vacation Bible School enrollment grew by 25 percent. The Weekday Program has experienced a complete restructuring and is doing well. The opportunity to be the first church in Florida to host Pine Cove’s “Camp in the City” will always be so significant to me. I am glad they are coming your way again this summer. Thank you for supporting me and trusting me to make a difference.

I would like to express a special word of THANKS to some amazing people. The SMBS, Missions, and Choir leaders have and continue to work hard to make a difference in the lives of children. The Children’s Ministry Interns (Savannah, Olajide, Mackenzie, Emily, Gabby, Jessica, and Bri) are the very best and serve our families passionately. They are a Colossians 3:23 team! Christin Wright has been a great Children’s Ministry Associate with a fun sense of humor and a willingness to serve others with a smile. I do not have enough words to express my deep gratitude to Cynthia Tucker and Maranda Andrews, Directors of the Weekday Program. They have trusted me, partnered, implemented, and served tirelessly to rework the Weekday Education Program. They are the “hands and feet of Jesus” with children and families each and every weekday. I will miss all these folks.

I will also miss the children and parents that have made Children’s Ministry at FBCTLH so fulfilling. Thank you for partnering with me!

Please accept my resignation as the Minister of Children at FBCTLH effective Wednesday, January 31. I ask for your prayers as I make a big move and follow the Lord’s leadership in my life.

Sincerely,

—Suzette Mason
