A LETTER FROM TODD SMITH

Dear First Baptist Church Family,

I am writing this letter to inform you of my resignation as Minister of Community Missions at First Baptist Church of Tallahassee effective February 4, 2018.

I have loved working with the youth and internationals at First Baptist. This role has changed my life over the past 9½ years. Working with both of these groups could hardly be called work at all — they have gifted my life with purpose, challenge, humor, encouragement, and feelings that no words can capture. I am truly grateful for the amazing experiences which we have shared together. You have become dear friends as we collectively experienced life with Christ.

Jan has been offered a wonderful position in Richmond, VA, to provide college access for low income, first-generation students on the campus of Virginia Commonwealth University. I am so happy for her and I fully support her. Jan and I will be moving to Richmond at the end of February.

I want to thank First Baptist Church for loving my family. We knew no one in Tallahassee when Jan, Zachary, and I moved here. Thank you for your love and compassion. You will always have a special place in our hearts. Please remember us in your prayers during this time of transition to a new area of service. We have made many lifelong friends and we will miss you deeply.

I want to thank the staff at the church. It has been a privilege to work with the quality of people on staff. They work very hard and love the church and they have treated me as family. It has been an honor to work side by side with them and I will miss them more than they know.

May God continue to bless you in the days, weeks, and years ahead.

Sincerely,
Todd Smith
