MINISTER OF CHILDREN AND WOMEN’S MINISTRIES

On February 27, we will have a special called business meeting at the end of both of our services to vote on calling a Minister of Children and Women’s Ministries to our pastoral staff. During this meeting we will hear from our candidate, both her testimony and her call to this position, and then we will vote on calling her to FBCTLH.

The primary responsibility of this position will be to serve our church by leading and continuing to develop a comprehensive ministry for children (birth-fifth grade) and for women in our church. This includes making disciples, recruitment and training of leaders and volunteers, providing pastoral care, reviewing and writing curriculum, implementation of vision and strategy, and giving supervision to and coordinating ministry and outreach in both of these areas.

I am pleased to recommend Jenny Whitaker for this position, who has most recently served as the Children, Student, and Family Ministry Director at Bradfordville First Baptist Church here in Tallahassee (2018-2021). Jenny is married to Ronnie, and they have three children: Ali (10), Landon (9), and Brayden (7). Jenny also serves as an author of children’s ministry curriculum for Lifeway and as a children’s ministry trainer for the Florida Baptist Convention. She is currently pursuing a master’s degree in discipleship and family ministry from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.

Jenny’s calling to our church will impact the ministries of two other members of our pastoral staff. Jacob Chilton, our Associate Pastor of Family and Discipleship Ministries, does a great job leading our children’s ministry, but with Jenny’s addition would focus full-time on discipleship and family ministry, which would include taking over leadership of our Sunday Morning Bible Study (SMBS) ministry. Terry Delaney, our Associate Pastor of Pastoral Care and Missions, currently leads our SMBS ministry, and this change will allow Terry to focus all of his attention on these two vital ministries in our church.

Before our special called business meetings on February 27, there will be an opportunity to meet and greet Jenny and her family, as well as an informal time to talk and ask questions. This will be immediately after our second service on February 20 (approximately 12:15-1:15).

I hope you will be able to come out this Sunday to participate in our meeting to call Jenny to our church. I also hope you will be praying for her, her family, and our church as we seek God’s will and follow Jesus together.

God bless,
