Slow Miracles

Several years ago, a friend of mine went through a terrible car accident. His recovery was slow and difficult. He never regained his full abilities, but he and his wife survived to tell an incredible story. They called it a “slow miracle.” In their testimony, they shared that the process of recovery and partial healing was just as significant as the seemingly instant recoveries of biblical people. People shared, served, and showered them with love, care, and attention. Their marriage grew stronger, and their lives became a dynamic witness.

I listened to another slow miracle this past Wednesday night. Rhonda Smith’s brother Mark was severely injured in a work accident last June. He almost died, and his recovery has been long and slow, with many valleys and mountains. Mark challenged us last week, to “preach the word; be ready in season and out of season” (2 Timothy 4:2). Listen to Mark’s powerful testimony, and thank God for this slow miracle.
