Amahl and the Night Visitors

First Baptist Church of Tallahassee is proud to host the FSU College of Music student-directed production of the beloved Christmas musical classic, “Amahl and the Night Visitors” by Gian-Carlo Menotti. This timeless tale of a crippled boy who offers his crutch as a gift for the Magi to present to the Christ Child has delighted audiences far and wide since its premiere performance as the debut production of the Hallmark Hall of Fame. It was commissioned by NBC and first performed by the NBC Opera Theatre on December 24, 1951, in New York City from Rockefeller Center, where it was broadcast live on television. Our own FBCTLH Music Ministry has presented this musical several times in the past. Our instrumental director, Samuel Carlton, will perform the role of “The Page” in this 90-minute presentation.

Not only are you invited to attend and enjoy this production, but this event will bring many college students through our doors for the first time and you will have the opportunity to reach out and welcome them warmly in Jesus’ name. Your support of this production will advance the effort to build bridges with FSU and with the College of Music, and to bring students not only into our building but ultimately into our ministry areas. “Amahl and the Night Visitors” will be presented Wednesday, November 14, from 7:30–9:00PM in the FBCTLH Sanctuary. The program is free and open to the public.
