Weekday Week

Thank you for making the Week of Awareness possible. Media competitors WCTV and the Tallahassee Democrat partnered to shine a bright light into the darkness of underage substance abuse and drinking. Conversations publicly and privately are happening across our community to connect parents better to each other, change the behavior of adults and teenagers, and expose businesses that provide access to these substances. I’m so grateful to be a part of a church that cares enough about our community to admit that we have a problem. We don’t point fingers but instead join hands with others to name a need, admit our problem, and work together for solutions. The resources we provided are available through the blog on our website or the websites of the media partners. I hope your neighborhood will host a conversation about these important matters. As Paul writes, our strength is made perfect in weakness. Today, we are a bit stronger together.

This project was made possible through a Life Group called the Non Group. You may have read about us in the newspaper. This group represents the kind of ministry that our church is doing to glorify Jesus Christ and to engage our community in the places, phases, and pursuits of life. Through this one and 20 other groups like it, we’re able to be a part of larger community efforts for the common good. When we’re able to help our community “choose life over death,” we’re gaining a platform to share about the one who created life from the beginning. Thanks be to God.

This Sunday at church, we kick off a week where we celebrate the work of our Weekday ministry. Each week, our staff works tirelessly to train 150 children in Jesus’s name. When Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me,” these people accepted Jesus’s calling personally. This past Friday, 26 students from 7 countries “graduated” from our pre-K program and are certified and ready for Kindergarten. Scientists tell us that 90% of brain development happens before age 5. It’s awesome to think that these children’s brains are already being shaped by the gospel and sharing it with their friends and family members.

Please plan to join us for Weekday Family Night on Wednesday evening, June 3, from 5:00-7:00PM. We’ll serve a special Wednesday evening meal for our church and Weekday. Weekday parents will be here for Open House. You’ll have a chance to mingle with the families, check out the rooms that Weekday shares with our SMBS classes. Meet our Weekday staff, and thank them for their service. We’ll join together in the sanctuary at 6:00PM for my message on parenting. Through the Week of Awareness and Weekday, you’re reaching our community in Jesus’ name.
