Think, Act, Be, Day 18-Psalm 66:16-20

Truly God has listened

Yesterday, we were summoned to come and bow. Today, we testify to each other—“Come and hear.” What is the Psalmist explaining? As we discussed Sunday, he’s experienced some sort of deliverance. More than likely the Psalmist is vulnerable enough to share where he’s failed—and reflecting on the Lord’s provision in the midst of his frailty.
We are much more attuned to God’s work when we’re willing to learn from our mistakes. Others are more likely to listen to our testimonies when we’re honest enough to admit we make mistakes. Letting go of sin is a willingness to quit selfish behavior and self-righteous attitudes. Through both, God continues to show his love toward us.

Psalm 66:16-20
Come and hear, all you who fear God,
and I will tell what he has done for me.
17 I cried aloud to him,
and he was extolled with my tongue.
18 If I had cherished iniquity in my heart,
the Lord would not have listened.
19 But truly God has listened;
he has given heed to the words of my prayer.
20 Blessed be God,
because he has not rejected my prayer
or removed his steadfast love from me
