Think, Act, Be, Day 22- Colossians 3:1-3
Since you have been raised with Christ…
The Christian life is not a guilt trip over the sins that nailed Jesus to the cross. It’s a resurrected life of gratitude for what Jesus did and continues to do for you. Paul explains why in Colossians 3: “Since you have been raised with Christ.” Just as God raised Jesus from the dead, he also raised you when you surrendered to Him as Lord. You will be raised again at the resurrection of the dead. We live between two resurrections—as resurrected people. Jesus has breathed the Holy Spirit into us and sent us as his resurrection witnesses.
Your baptism reenacts this experience. I say the words over each new member. It’s both reminder and travel instructions: “buried with Christ in baptism and death, raised to walk in newness of life.” Welcome back to life. You’re on the Way.
1 So if you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth, 3 for you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.
