DON’T BE USELESS

As I write this, we have just finished our first concert at Hope Lodge in Decatur, a suburb of Atlanta. Hope Lodge provides a place to stay for people who have undergone transplant surgery or are receiving chemotherapy. It is a place filled with people who are very sick and weary and where caregivers are emotionally exhausted. The Lodge provides them with a beautiful place of refuge.

The youth sang a wonderful program and their young, smiling faces brought joy to Hope Lodge. But, even better, they sang songs that proclaimed who God is. They reminded those who listened that He is our rock, He is Lord of all, He is the Alpha and Omega, and that we cannot escape His presence even if we settle on the far side of the sea.

A woman came up to us at the end of the concert with tears in her eyes. She told us that she and husband were upstairs in their room as our concert began. She looked at her husband and said, “I hear church music!” They came downstairs to hear the concert even though they had to sit in a room to the side since he had a bone marrow transplant almost a month ago. Her husband, a pastor, had to leave his church to come to Atlanta for a bone marrow transplant. How sad they were to leave their church family. But, she was so happy as she told us she felt God had brought us to Hope Lodge even if just for them. I am sure they miss their church family and being with a body of believers. But, for today, they were with a body of believers singing about God and praising Him!

So, thank you FBCTLH, for all you have done to get us here. Thank you for giving by filling change jars, giving to the offering at Dessert Theatre, and for sponsoring so many teenagers who could not afford to go on their own. How generous you have been to get us here!

Today we are thankful for the good works God prepared us for. What a privilege to sing for Hope Lodge today and to bring the church to two people who desperately needed it. We are excited about what the rest of the week holds and sharing that with you Sunday night at 6:00PM for the Home Concert!

To God be the Glory,
Pam
